Biography

Paul Waaktaar-Savoy is the guitarist, and primary songwriter, of the Norwegian pop band a-ha. He is responsible for most of the bands hits, including "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." "Hunting High and Low", "Take on Me", the sweeping ballad "Summer Moved On" which revived their career after a ten year lull. He has another band called Savoy which has achieved great success in Norway, selling over 300,000 records. They have been nominated for the spellmansprisen ( norwegian grammy award) four times and have won 3 times. The song velvet appears in the movie "One Night at McCool's" and "Whalebone" appears in the highly acclaimed norwegian film "Hawaii, Oslo". a-ha have recently won the Q award for most inspirational band. This is due to the fact that many bands have come forward and expressed their love and appreciation for the music and distinct songwriting. These bands include, coldplay, rem, U2, the darkness, the dandy warhols, keane, to name a few.
