Makes you look back on the trials we have suffered as a race and just hope we don't end up destroying ourselves before we finally realize 'we were all equal in the end.'

well i see this as two ways...it describes an apocalypse like alot of people said. but i think that it is more of an awakening. you can live your life as you want up until "the moment when the brakes lock and you slide towards the big truck...". but as soon as that is happening you fear what you are going to leave in your life. understanding of the world...even though it is not universally accepeted..."finally I understand the feelings of the few, ashes and diamonds, foe and friend, we were all equal in the end"..is most important. we all live. we all leave.

the sax is in the right time i think. the end of this sorrowful song: "finally I understand the feelings of the few ashes and diamonds foe and friend we were all equal in the end" with the sax gives little optimistic feeling to the song, to the future, the feeling of the unification of all people of humankind. that's why the sax appears to me little optimistic and hopeful. that's why I think sax gives the additional quality to this song and is needful:)

I love how the album just leaves you there after all these powerful songs about war and death. A soft sax is playing, while you think about the nuclear apocalypse. Well done Roger, well done.

Would be the perfect song, were it not for that damn sax solo. The sax is not on the demo, but that version lacks the beautiful production. Alas.

"Like the moment when the brakes lock, and you slide towards the big truck." Dude, I've done that - real terrifying, let me tell ya.
