Playboi Carti is the highly-anticipated debut commerical mixtape by Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti. The mixtape boasts guest appearances from executive producer A$AP Rocky, California singer Leven Kali, and frequent collaborator Lil Uzi Vert.
Carti’s debut commerical mixtape was announced on April 12, 2015, by his then-manager, Ian Connor, as Cash Carti. On March 9, 2017, “Lookin” and “wokeuplikethis*,” which both feature Lil Uzi, were released as singles prior to appearing on the tracklist. A day prior to the project’s debut, Carti took to Instagram to reveal the mixtape’s title and its cover art, which is an image taken by Atlanta photographer Gunner Stahl. After two years of recording and preparation, the project was officially released on April 14, 2017, through Interscope Records and AWGE with the title Playboi Carti.
“Magnolia,” the mixtape’s second track (and third official single), is the most popular track on the project. The song peaked at #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved multi-platinum status.
