I Disagree with many of the comments, I think it’s great. Here’s why: I only became a fan when her work became heavier, I loved I Disagree and love Flux even more. At first play I didn’t know if I could like Zig, but I was wrong. This album is more raw than it seems. It is full of so much painful introspection, it brought me to the edge of tears. Flux also made me emotional, so many of the lyrics on that album resonated with me, and she did it again here. There is enough dark humor in this that the emotional depth can be missed. You can listen to this album as a journey starting with a funeral (maybe for a previous version of her life that needed to die). As soon as Church Outfit ends, she lets it be known what she wants: authenticity in love. And that lays the groundwork, because what follows is a confession on how it felt to be let down, the trauma of being hurt in the vulnerability of loving someone, the thick armor / defense mechanisms she’s built in order to cope. After reflecting on being wounded by those who were supposed to love her (with specifically male pronouns), there’s Motorbike. Superficially it’s catchy and flirtatious. Contrasting with the heaviness of songs before it, it sounds like her craving an intimacy that is opposite of what hurt her. With a “she,” who is empowered, self-assured, secure. That Motorbike could be a 3rd person narration of herself adds more depth. Is she the girl on a motorbike? But she wants to love her? To know what it’s like between her legs? What if it’s all of them? It’s a divergence from the past, a desire for something strong and authentic. Which brings us full circle from Knockoff. At last, Prove It grounds Zig in admitting that she put the bloodiest parts of her life for view in her songs. What does this say about her? What does she have to prove to anyone by it? Nothing, because it’s for herself. She is seeking to be empowered, and isn’t humoring anybody. It’s a very intelligent, impressive album. [2/2]

this having linger and the attic on it is more or less the only thing saving it from mediocrity. the singles are good too. it's a decent album i guess but it feels unfinished and markedly more generic than anything else in her discography.

I honestly didn't get it at all at first listen, but it is definetly a grower literally so in love with it now! Also I really don't get the attic hate it's one of my favs😭 But I feel like with an artist like poppy it's normal that there will be many people not liking her newer works scince she really takes complete 180 turns between albums instead of mixing maybe 1 or 2 genes in her usual sound, like most other artists. Definetly give the album some time to grow on you. Also I feel like this album hits way more on a sunset/night walk😍

Honestly after a few listens I can say that Linger, Church Outfit and Flicker are definitely going to stay with me for longer, but the rest of the album is not quite memorable. I agree it could be better. Not a bad album, just some weird production going on at times and it's not cohesive honestly. And I really can't stand The Attic, while some people seem to love it.

I ike this a LOT. there is a lot of weird mixes on this, and I think I like it a lot because of this. my first impression of this one was better than my first impression of Flux.

Tbh I feel the complete opposite about this album, I love it since the first listen, something that haven't happened since 'I Disagree' so this is huge for me, love this girl so much 🥰

I think this is really cool. A nice vibe, produced well, and as always a further genre exploration. Let poppy cook

Idk how to feel about this,,, I can’t tell if it’s just me being bitchy that it’s not a metal/rock album but something about it feels a bit off?? Like individually each of the songs are really good! I love what it becomes and the attic! But all together it feels a bit underwhelming? Ugh I hate being overly cynical and stuff but it’s just how I feel

poppy i love you to death, but this is an insane disappointment... zig is completely devoid of the creativity and magic that your other works consistently flowed with in surplus... we were teased and drip marketed for half a year for not even half the creativity and run time..... 💔 hope you got the money you wanted from this..

if you listened to i disagree more and then listened to zig you'd think i disagree more was made by an extremely experienced and masterfully brilliant avant garde musician and songwriter and producer, and zig was made by a 16 year old girl on tiktok that used her parents money to produce an album that she put absolutely no effort into and the producers panicked and worked their asses off to make it as marketable as possible

I think in time, this album will grow on you. I definitely do not think this gives out 16 year old vibes. It’s a good album.
