C / C is an amazing album as is. It feels very close to what a natural progression for PT would've been like if they had not disbanded, and Steven has played the bass on it. So tell me, what is it that makes you miss Colin so much? He would've certainly influenced the music composition process and the final output if he were still a part of the band, but then he surely ought to not be missed that much if the output without him is stellar by itself. All that though is assuming you agree and realise that C / C is as good and unique as any of PT's albums from their more metal leaning phase.

Colin's involvement directly contributed to the more metallic and jazzier sounds of PT, which have vastly been downgraded in CC, also I liked his bass playing more than I do Wilson's but outside of that, I don't understand your objection to these critiques, its childish. Edwin is a fantastic musician and you can hear the difference in CC without him, I enjoyed the album all the same but PT sound like a lesser band without him - it's not uncommon for people to express criticism over a band for losing a member and it affecting their sound, we simply miss Edwin's style and impact on PT, nothing more. Also CC is fine but without the bonus tracks, it really isn't as amazing as you say

I believe that Steven, Richard and Gavin have said that Colin seemed to not have kept in touch with them throughout the years, since C/C was written across a decade, and that's why he wasn't a part of the 'reunion'. Maybe Colin felt fully accomplished with that part of his career and was ready to move on. Or maybe there's other, personal reasons that he didn't keep in contact with the guys. And that's for Colin and the band to know. I love Colin's playing and I wouldn't have minded hearing his contributions, but C/C, while not my favorite PT album, is still a really strong record.

This comes down to taste per usual. I feel like C / C does not lack anything and is one of PT's finest albums. Also, Colin played on Incident, do you feel that album was as metallic as you find the 3 albums prior to it? The band was going down a different path after FoaBP already, also evident by Nil Recurring, and probably Colin was not feeling it being not in line with the approach and simply left. The length of time, that was in excess of a decade, since Incident would also have a bearing on what a new album sounds like don't you think? Or would you rather they continued with the same metal and jazz thing forever like you prefer?

wow i remember that. super cringey. honestly his whole pretentious "pop music sux, and the music industry doesn't produce real artists like me" phase was vomit inducing. i remember he even produced a terrible documentary with Lasse Hoile where he talks to the camera basically embodying the "le wrong generation" meme for an hour and a half. i wonder if he's still super out of touch

I've got 3 terabytes of 60's pre-ambient. 800 gigs of live recordings of this local band called the fuckerfucks. They played only 2 shows before breaking up but I had 11 redundant recording rigs all recording flac which I then layered over one another for 25,000 kbps bitrate. 8 terabytes of the beatles. No not THOSE beatles, the new beatles. They haven't recorded an album yet and technically they're not really a band yet but their indie-gospel-post-funk-punk style is going to be huge when you guys hear their stuff in about 5 years. 4 petabytes of the Ethiopian Free Jazz wave that occurred in 1973 in a town called Wenji Gefersi. 18 terabytes of sound check recordings from the mid 90's band LFO. They only scored a hit with "I like girls (who wear abercrombie and fitch)" but they were way ahead of their time. That's just my C: drive. I have 41 drives.

I couldn't agree with you more. He's so innovative, far ahead of his time, writes some of the best and most compelling music I've ever heard and is extraordinarily intelligent. "Genius" sums him up perfectly, both in the musical realm and outside of it!

I watched the whole interview with Steven at Rob Moore's YT channel with such a pleasure! I I remember back in 2009 I read an article in magazine about Porcupine Tree. And about his upcoming album Insurgentes. It was so tasty written. I found this new record and fell in love instantly. Right after that I started to acknowledge PT stuff. I even got inspired by this story of only him recording these first albums, and I started to write my own music too. Later in 2011 I got into Radiohead. Nowadays I believe it is my favorite band. So I sat and watched the whole interview with a big dumb smile on my face. Everyone, who loves this man and his music definitely should watch it. Thare are a lot of themes they come across, Steven even talks about Coldplay and Radiohead and why he adores the last one! There are no so many musicians whome I can call heroes and idols, but one of them definitely will be Steven Wilson!

Little known fact: every PT song is actually ripped off from Hedgehog Bush. They're an English prog rock band too, but they never put out any albums. Or any recordings for that matter. But I know Steve Willie stole those songs from them. Trust me.
