Don't take it personally. If you do care about this album, then try to look beyond the sometimes plain, simple and otherwise silly (I get where you're coming from) nature of some of its lyrics and grasp why it's that way. It does of course also have plenty of lines that would make you scratch your head for long without even getting close to what the intention of the writer is. This album is a perfect example of a complete package in very hard-hitting musical terms. You don't really think they got lazy writing the words do you?

Like I already said, imo more than three fourths of the lyrics on this album are brilliant, apart from a line or 2 that I don't agree with; and also because of the fact that they have written great lyrics on their other albums I can't accept your view that the lyrics are bad. It all works very well as a whole (the mood/ atmosphere the music builds and then what the singer sings and the way he sings it, even if it seems like just plain dialogue). Also, I found like 2 instances altogether where the singer is giving out his opinions. If it's boom boom boomer or not can be decided at a later time.

I was kinda in doubt about the meaning of Sleep Together. At first, I really thought it was about a couple in crisis solving their problems with sex. But the suicide interpretation just blew my mind. Verses like "Switch off the future" and, of course, "Let's sleep forever" make it really clear.

2007 had a lot of albums with a blue filter theme. This, Novembre's The Blue, Sworn's Tended High and Heaven's Gate's Keldian all had it and 2007 albums always remind me of that. Having just discovered Porcupine Tree in a few months after Deadwing released. This was my first Porcupine Tree release i got to experience and damn did it blow me away. Growing up on Prog Rock, this was everything I wanted in modern Prog. Novembre's The Blue is also just as good. I should re-listen to the other 2 as it has been a long ass time. It's a shame The Incident was so lackluster compared to FOABP.

Frankly everything Porcupine Tree has done is all high quality. Counting when Porcupine Tree was just Steven Wilson and his high school friend, to when it actually became a band and the Sky Moves Sideways through FOABP are all perfect albums. With the new album, The Incidient is deservedly the worst album , yet it is still decent, just not amazing like everything else

The lyrics are intentionally dumb, it's written from the perspective of a depressive teenager taking pills to deal with it.
