SMILE! :D is the third studio album by Porter Robinson, set to be released on July 26th, 2024.
On February 29th, 2024, Porter would upload a cryptic video to his YouTube channel in which a fictional video essayist from the year 2028 described the disappearance of Porter from the public eye, as well as the removal of all his music from streaming platforms. At the very end of the video, a short music snippet played, along with visuals saying "it's done".
Porter's website was replaced with a 24 hour countdown. After its end, Robinson announced that his third album was finished.
The lead single, "Cheerleader", released on March 20th, after Porter shared a few snippets of the song on his social media pages. It was released along with a music video directed by Hugh Mulhern.
The second single, "KNOCK YOURSELF OUT XD", released on April 24th, also with a music video, this time directed by *UNCANNY.
On writing the album, Porter Robinson said: "the album that I was TRYING to write was this nonstop party — NO sincerity, ALL fun, an album that revels in absurdity for a world that rejects context. And that was the plan until I accidentally started confessing how I was really feeling, and … you’ll hear the rest."
