This is track #5 from the original album of 1985 as well as the 2007 remastered re-release.

Paddy McAloon on the song:

"History gets murky here, (when the Sprouts first started) but there was a plan to write an entire album with the same title for each song, the completely different tunes and subjects to be differentiated by numbers. The only worthwhile result was Goodbye Lucille #1 which later appeared on 'Steve McQueen'." - Source unknown

"It was written at the same time as the Police's 'Walking on the Moon'… I was ill in bed and heard 'Walking on the Moon' and it was really simple. I thought, 'I've got to get simple.' And Johnny has got to be the most cliched rock 'n' roll word ever used. So I thought I'd fill the verses up with stuff you don't normally say to someone, like 'Are you still in love with Hayley Mills?'" - NME, June 20, 1992
