Christmas came early! My double-CD package with both Omni albums came in today. Part 2 blew me away. I thought I was listening to The Chariot or Meshuggah at times. Even heavier and groovier than Part 1. I was not quite prepared for such a sonic assault!

It's just so sad that OMNI is their last project. This double album made me interested in band like never before. They're really ending it on a high note

The new album is awesome. Most bands aren't really telling the truth when they say that their new material is heavier than anything else they've ever done, but P86 has really delivered.

After listening to it a few times, I can safely say OMNI, Pt. 1 potentially is the album of the year. Tied with ABR's Death Below and Haken's Fauna.

Influences EP is solid. Didn't expect them to cover a song like Strange Fruit, but they managed to pull it off.

So every member of the band except Schwab is gone, and this album is still awesome? Okay. it's gonna be weird seeing them in a show, though.

You know, people got really pissed off when Truthless Heroes came out, and I really don't blame them. On the other hand, Truthless Heroes is, without any contest, their best record. When I listen to it and Songs To Burn Your Bridges By, I shake my head and think about how awesome they could've been if they had stuck with and/or bulit upon those two albums.

Kickstarter update: "We are making final preparations to head to Nashville to record. We have never done an album in Nashville so this will be a new experience and we are looking forward to sharing it with you. We have lots of musically gifted friends in Nashville and you may just hear a few of them on this project. We plan to do plenty of studio updates and share behind the scenes pics/videos and give you the inside scoop on how things are going every step of the way. We are still writing, writing, writing new demos with the goal to record the most epic batch of songs possible. We are also excited as both U.S. and European festival and show offers are rolling in for 2012! We will be seeing you soon and sharing these new songs with you live!" Yay :3 [2]

Schwab: "We have won the battle... but the war is still being fought. We have hit our milestone quickly, thanks to all the support of you guys. But we still need your help. We purposely set the goal low to achieve the basic costs for recording, but we still have to fund record packaging, merchandise for the incentives, not to mention marketing, distribution, and touring. Please continue to prayerfully spread the word and offer your support with the same level of determination, all you P86 supporters!!! Thanks again for this amazing campaign which you have already made successful!" I went with the CD + book, which seems a popular choice. Not gonna buy a shirt I haven't seen. :D

Please visit our Kickstarter page and spread the word about our new record--coming Late Spring 2012!" Yay :3 Hmm, hard to choose which deal to buy.

http://www.andrewschwab.com/blog/2011/10/10232011/ I think their popularity peaked around the Truthless Heroes / Songs to Burn Your Bridges By era (although lastfm would indicate that happened a bit later), in those days they, Blindside and Skillet (pre-Comatose) seemed to be the most popular hard rock bands among... well... youth group teenagers. They've picked up less fans since then, and I think it's a safe guess to say that the great majority of fans today have been fans for a long time.
