Serving as the intro to his debut studio album “My Name is my Name”, Pusha T raps about his upcoming, what his ambitions are, and his ruthless, fearless personality.
Pusha’s rough voice compliments the ambient element of this instrumentation in an extraordinary manner; one that really emphasizes the fact that he’s a king.
As far as the production goes, this song contains the same sample that was used in Kanye West’s “New Slaves,” directly after the second verse, and before the outro. The sample didn’t appear in the album credits for “New Slaves” or “King Push”, as it appears to be taken from a sample pack. Other artists to use the sample include Mazda and At Dawn We Rage.
The sample can be heard in “New Slaves” and “King Push.” They have also been slowed down the second time around in order for the listener to fully grasp the content of the sample.
After preliminary reports of this song being produced by renowned actor Joaquin Phoenix, recent reports including this Pusha T interview state that it was produced by Sebastian Sartor, step son of famed Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.
