“Hard Out Here” is the lead single from RAYE’s first studio album, as well as her first solo release since her 2021 separation from Polydor Records. The song was released on June 30, 2022.
“I had no idea what was in store for me, but my mind was on fire. I wanted this chapter to be as authentic as possible and tell my story without worrying about the opinion of one or the other. These are visceral feelings that I needed to externalize to find myself as an artist. Writing “Hard Out Here” was creepy but also cathartic. At the time of writing the first lines, you feel very small, insignificant. Then, at the end of the process, you explode with joy. I really needed to tell all this.“
