Little Richard, Elvis, Big Mama Thornton, Carl Perkins, Jackie Wilson... There were a few big ones, but Nelson had something magical in his voice that can sadden you within a sec. Just listen to "Lonesome Town" or "Sweeter than You". "Hello Mary Lou" was the favourite song of my beloved mother. May she rest in heavenly peace.

"Nelson was second only to Elvis Presley as the most popular rock and roll artist of the 1950s and 1960s." It's sad that Nelson doesn't have millions of listeners like Elvis Presley on Last.fm.

Ricky Nelson was one of the most hyped artists of the '50s, often compared to Elvis, and helped considerably by his weekly appearances in one of the popular TV series of that era. A teen aged heart throb whose sound was dated by the early '60s.
