"This Hell" is the lead single from Rina Sawayama's sophomore studio album, Hold the Girl.
Its lyrics reflect on attacks against LGBTQ+ people, which are often motivated by religious beliefs. The song contains a guitar solo which was described as "over-the-top" by NPR. Rina makes references to some queer icons such as Britney Spears, Princess Diana, Shania Twain, Paris Hilton and Whitney Houston.
