What a gorgeous song. And to those that say plath would have hated it, well, she hated pretty much everything that wasn't dark and gloomy, and killed herself with her kids upstairs in their room. So, her not liking something is not a good measure for how good it is. She is one of the most tragic figures of the 20th century, she had amazing talent and Ryan Adams pays her just tribute with this impossibly beautiful song. The funny part is many of the attributes of the woman in the song do not fit plaths personality so I personally believe it's not about plath specifically but women that share the same struggle with depression and sadness and adventure that can have you fall in love so hard with them but it never works out because they don't love themselves or life and eventually push you away for whatever reason. It's a sad ending the but the ride is what love is all about and I think that's what RA is talking about here.

Not a big fan of his, but I was obsessed with Sylvia Plath for a while, it's nice that he wrote her this song, makes me smile!

It's not syrupy, sentimental, or anything like Randy Newman! God, people can be so freaking stupid.
