"Why" is a song recorded by American singer Sabrina Carpenter included on the Japanese edition of Singular Act I (2018). The track was written by Carpenter, Brett McLaughlin, and its producer Jonas Jeberg. "Why" has been described as an electropop, emo pop, and dark pop song backed by a hypnotic synthesizer loop and a finger-click beat and slick beat at the chorus. The lyrics talk about Carpenter and a guy being completely opposite, but they’re made for each other. The music video was released on July 19, 2017, featuring Riverdale star Casey Cott. The song peaked at 21 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart.
