Born to a Guinean father and native to Los Angeles, Evan Windom is a Neo-R&B artist under the alias 'Saro'. There’s something intrinsically captivating about his music. You can’t help but stare when you see him and you can’t help getting swept up in his music when you hear it. So it’s no surprise that his second album, Boy Afraid, has captured the attention of the music industry. Saro’s imitable brand of pop-noir electronica has garnered high praise from such tastemakers as Billboard, Stereogum, NYLON and Rolling Stone—which officially dubbed him an Artist to Watch. And fans are definitely watching; the combination of his infectious beats and searing lyrics have enraptured audiences at Bonnaroo, South by Southwest, and the Day For Night Festival.
Beyond his musicianship, the Los Angeles native thrums with the mantra to create, create, create. In addition to the five-part video series he made to support the album’s singles, he also staged an immersive multimedia installation and performance pieces to celebrate their release.
Intriguing and sensual as a model and as a musician, Saro has quipped about baring it all in his music videos, saying that skin never falls out of fashion.
