I love Sigh but this is the most generic and irrelevant album they ever released. Even the unjustly despised Graveward is better. Imaginary Sonicscape, In Somniphobia and Gallows Gallery are top tier to me.

Half the album sounds the same to me. The first few tracks sound good but I quickly lose interest in the rest every time I listen to this album. Many of the songs also have parts I don't think fit in at all like 0:10-0:20 on Inked In Blood. In general I don't think it's a bad album and it has some very nice tracks, but it's far from their best.

How dare symphonic instruments be positioned/mixed in a way that doesn't make everything a jumbled mess! Seriously, this is way better than Scenes From Hell on that front...

"Such a crap album from such a once great band..." Except it's a great album and the band is still great.

At least the orchestral elements on Scenes From Hell are real, have a broad dynamic range, and sound atmospheric. Yes they are loud, but that in itself makes listening to the music a murky challenge. I agree, this has a more 'polished' sound, but that just makes it all the more boring. Sure 'polished' is fine if you're writing pop music, but most of the riffs here aren't catchy enough to be pop. Introitus/Kyrie is a good track, but all the rest are too similar imho.

How can an album containing the song Introitus/Kyrie be overrated? Personally I find Scenes From Hell a lot less polished. It sounds like a demo version of an album. It's not bad, but it needs work, badly. Not at all "basically this album done better" IMO. A major complaint for me is that the orchestral elements seem completely disjointed from the rest of the music. They're badly connected and they're far too loud.

Most overrated Sigh album. For me it's their worst by a long way. I don't hate it, but I do find it rather pedestrian, whereas every single other Sigh release blows me away. How people can like this and not Scenes From Hell baffles me, since the latter is basically this album done much better.

I think it is about the production and more straight forward sound if you compare it to other newer (more avantgarde) SIGH albums.

While I wouldn't say this is a bad album by any means, I have to say that the symphonic elements often come off cheesy as hell (in a bad way) such as in Me-devil, the clean vocals are consistently god-awful (again, Me-devil), and some of the melodies presented can border on painful to listen to. If they cut out the terrible clean singing (which seems to be a trend with Japanese bands), and the near-midi string effects, I would probably upgrade my rating of this album from "eh" to "good."

This album and Infidel Art are the best ones, no more than masterpieces. The new one is in the average.

This is their best album, the newest one that came out last month is just terrible..

While I have long been a fan of older Sigh work, I must say this album is my favorite of theirs. It definitely has its imperfections, but the direction Sigh has shown is very interesting since it deviates even further from typical bm. It also displays fantastic potential. Anyone who thinks only old Sigh is good is just butthurt.

One of the best Black Metal albums I've come across. It's a shame the genre doesn't have more quality albums such as this.
