So happy with this album. Exactly what I was hoping for, and I admire their restraint.

I think it may still be on Takk. Last time I checked anyway. But bands evolve (or devolve depending on your stance). The directions they take may not always be your cup of tea, but I admire that approach over staying too stagnant and phoning in the same sound every record. Like many bands, they’re on a journey with their career… and the best part is that we can revisit our favorite destinations / contributions from them at any time. I love me some Takk, sure, but records like this one and Valtari are so good for late night relaxation or drifty head-spaces. It’s all about knowing the best albums for the best time and settings. I’m glad we have another shade to paint with from the Sigur Rós palette.

Yeah, that’s fine. It’s not like I could change your opinion on that even if I wanted to. Your are more than welcome to feel as though they’ve simplified their songwriting, or have become “less ambitious” as a band. It’s just worth reiterating that there are probably some folks out there who embrace the idea that less is more. I know a few people, personally, who have come to love Valtari more than anything else the band has written. Which is cool for them. Of course there are days when I want a more layered and active sound from my own Sigur Rós listen. But there are also mornings and evenings when I’m grateful to have something as soothing and transportive as ÁTTA in my library. One man’s Bland is another man’s Serene, etc. Maybe their next record will be more your speed… but with the trajectory they’re on, I probably wouldn’t hold my breath.

Do I miss the rock (guitar/drum) elements? Yes. Do I love it anyways? Also, yes. It's such a breath-takeningly beautiful and rich sounding album. There are stylistic similarities to "Valtari" yet it atmospherically feels like a polar opposite to it.

I submitted a bunch of the capitalization fixes, looks like they were all applied. Thanks, Last.fm team!
