okay, now i have one good description for term "kroegressive" - their new one called "Memorial". absolutely empty, uninspired, primitive and weak record with really good production.

Solid album, but I'm not connecting with it as much as I did with their pre-Imperial output. Imperial grew on me a lot so who knows. After they beautifully remastered Lykaia it seems like they forgot how to make a guitar tone that doesn't sound muddy.

New album is very good, will hear it a lot. But for the next one Soen should change something. Lotus, Imperial and Memorial feels very similar.

True. This one is really good but they shoudnt make another one in this style. I hope for some long songs for a new record

Memorial has some good riffs, but the prog from the Lotus era is fading away for them. Starting with Imperial they've quickly morphed their sound into more of just plain old simplistic heavy metal.

I saw the band live in Aschaffenburg a few days ago. Joel's voice is even better live than on the studio albums. Simply fantastic. One of the best concerts I have ever seen.

Just go through Lotus once, or until you get a feel for it, and give your feedback again.

Maybe in terms of prog. I don't even classify this band as progressive. They play something else.

With Imperial and the new song they seem to straying away from prog. The new album will tell us for sure.

Just saw them live in Warsaw. Amazing show, Joel truly has a voice of an angel! Even better than studio recordings. Highly recommend to go see them if they're playing in your area.

Some people also claimed that the physical medium would die, yet here we are, buying CD's, stressing vinyl press plants, reviving the cassette. Maybe we just shouldn't overestimate self-proclaimed prophets and act as if we just effected a grand miracle. Because it clearly is not.

Solid album, the mix is really holding it back. It's not nearly as good as Lotus or Lykaia on first listen, but I'm sure it'll grow a bit. Maybe when they release the remastered mix next year after realizing their mistake?

After a few spins I think that Imperial is on a level with Lotus quality-wise without much change to its predecessor and I enjoy it, but Lotus has more memorable songs and hooks for me. I think that I will get back to Lotus more often than to this one in the future. I experienced this with some bands in the past few years, for example Dark Tranquillity's Moment or Soilwork's Verkligheten. Anyone else having this phenomenon with examples or am I the only one?

I really like Imperial, altho Lotus seemed to feel more rich and varied composition-wise. Other than that stellar stuff. Only nitpick I have against this band are the lyrics, which are of the "high-school student was struck by enlightement and wrote an elaborate-if-hamfisted poem explaining that 'religion is control' and 'schoolbook history is propaganda' and all I can reply is 'yeah, and?' " variety.

Pseudo-philosophical observation.. Lotus is remarkable in the sense that it's such an unremarkable album at a glance, yet it never sounds or comes across the same twice. Every time I listen, different songs or different parts within a song grab my attention. "Unremarkable" in the sense that there's nothing stand-out'ish or lavish about it, but rather a constant, solid stream of output whose strength lies in the totality. It's almost organic, alive and evolving, with naturally occurring gems throughout, there for the listener to notice in their own time in line with ones mood and attention capacity. This makes it highly remarkable. Two-three spins in, Imperial gives off the exact same vibe, which bodes very well!
