Biography
Sparky Deathcap is the solo project of Robert Taylor, a singer, songwriter and musician from Manchester, England. Since 2009, Taylor has also been a member of the Cardiff, Wales-based indie band Los Campesinos!
Primarily influenced by 90's lo-fi bands like Pavement, Smog and The Microphones, he has moved around a great deal stylistically and often performs material live that vastly differs from his recorded output.
Galvanised by a 2007 tour with his idol, Daniel Johnston, Sparky has attempted to unite music and drawing wherever possible, often performing songs with accompanying drawings on an overhead projector. He also runs a cartoon and comics blog called Tearjerky.co.uk, which is updated almost daily.
There are reportedly a number of new releases in the pipeline, including an EP, a full-length album, book and an animated version of his rock opera, "Misty and Mouffette", a story about love, loss and organ transplants which he has previously performed live. In 2009, Taylor opened for Los Campesinos! on several tours and also performed as the band's auxiliary guitarist, percussionist and keyboardist and was a semi-official member of the band from that tour until July 2010, when he became an official member of the band.
