easily their strongest release imo. this is where everything the band had been doing up until this point comes together perfectly. the amount of sonic ideas on this album is just insane, the sound design is flawless and the atmosphere is like nothing else ive ever heard. i really dont get people who say this is "boring"

I don't think this album is a let down at all. In fact it's a high water mark of crystallizing their craft. As far as being "repetitive" and not a lot going on, most of their previous tracks are repetitive! What's more, both Refractions in the Plastic Pulse and Contronatura have at least two or more different sections or interludes and are 17 and 9 minutes respectively. So to say there's not a lot going on is just nonsense. I love Transient Random Noise Bursts and Emperor Tomato Ketchup, but Dots and Loops kills Mars Audiac. Music is obviously subjective, but sometimes people just right cheques they can't back up.

Probably Transient Random-Noise Bursts followed by Mars Audiac and Emperor Tomato Ketchup (Switched on & Peng is great too). Dots and Loops is just too slick for me and not alot going on compared to those earlier ones. But i will give it another chance at some point for sure... How about you, What's your favorite?

I really liked transient random noise bursts and emperor tomato ketchup but this one isn't doing much for me. Maybe I need to give it some time

Like all stereolab albums this is good with some highlights...there isn't a definite stereolab album. They never made a masterpiece which in away is a credit to them and their consistency.

Can't find anything in any of there albums that calls to me more than another. All there music seems smooth, eclectic and experimentally safe....t7b

Maybe this is my favorite album from Stereolab. It's bring myself to the strange mechanical futuristic-surrealistic-psychedelic world of music from the past, but at the same time from the future... Agreed with Fury112 - 5/5 :) "Brakhage", "Ticker-Tape of the Unconscious", "Refractions in the Plastic Pulse" and "Contronatura" is amazing
