I got to see Steve play this tour. Not only was seeing Foxtrot being played in whole amazing, but I never paid attention to his solo work while growing up, just Genesis. Fuck dude was that a mistake. He is a fantastic songwriter and god damn he is massively underrated in the prog community, but at least he is still very popular and I will get to experience the release of a new album and hopefully get to see him again.

seeing him again tonight (my 2nd time, glad you loved his solo work! Honestly, his work from the last 10 or so years i like more than his "classic" albums. Check out: Wolflight, The Night Siren, At the Edge of Light, and Surrender of Silence in particular...those four are all just top tier records :)

Very happy to hear that dude!! That was at the Uptown Theater right? Been there a few times myself when shows skip St. Louis haha.

Listening to him say "Domo Arigato" before playing Court of the Crimson King is something I never though I would come across

Unironically it is that album which got me hooked up with Steve Hackett and Genesis overall (eventho I knew about Phil Collins before Steve lol)

Well, his "Seconds Out" tour was one of the best shows I've seen in ages. The man is the definition of underrated, and his band really do justice to the old Genesis material as well as Steve's solo work. If you have the chance to catch him live, it's close to 3 hours of wonderful music.

I will be seeing him live today. So April one year removed from you hehe. Excited to see Foxtrot in full, one of my favourite ever LPs. 2nd time seeing Hackett, I saw him at the Night of the Prog Festival last July when he did Seconds Out, which was very epic.

That's the tour I saw, the seconds out one! :) And you are in for another treat tonight then because you are right, Foxtrot is a magical record and his band will do it justice for sure. Enjoy and thanks for sharing!

Saxophonist/Flautist - Robert Townsend is out sick with an issue with his lips. Really missed him for the solo portion. Now soon ends the intermission where they perform Foxtrot - I'm excited!

Hold on, releasing quality albums 40 years into your career? Is this even allowed?

Amazing guitar player. Really loving this last decade or so of solo releases, dude is an excellent song arranger.

They say when Peter Gabriel left, Genesis lost their brain. But when Steve Hackett left, Genesis lost their heart.

Genesis got along very fine without Peter Gabriel, but when Hackett left, they were never the same. I enjoy the trio stuff, but it's definitely not in the same league as their material before with Hackett. Wind and Wuthering is the best post-Gabriel recording.

Why did I not know until now about Mikael Akerfeldt on Supper's Ready? I saw Steve on Tuesday and was blown away. Genesis were my favourite band when I was 2. My parents couldn't get me to go to sleep until I'd listened to them. Opeth were a favourite of mine in recent years. Combining the two is like some weird dream come true!
