Steven Osborne is one of Britain's most highly regarded pianists. He was born in Scotland in 1971 and studied with Richard Beauchamp at St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh and with Renna Kellaway at the Royal Northern College of Music In Manchester. In 1988 he was a finalist in the piano section of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, and went on to win first prize in the prestigious Clara Haskil Competition in 1991 and the Naumburg International Competition in New York in May 1997.

In the United Kingdom he works regularly with the major orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony, Halle, Royal Scottish National, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and the Scottish Chamber orchestras.

His concerts are regularly broadcast by the BBC and he performs every year at Wigmore Hall in London and at the Edinburgh Festival. He has made five appearances at the Proms, including a performance of Tippett's Piano Concerto in 2005.

Steven Osborne performs throughout Europe as well as in the USA and the Far East. InJanuary 1995 he made his debut tour of Japan which included a recital at
Tokyo's Suntory Hall. He has developed a strong reputation in the USA, making his debut at Carnegie Hall in December 2005. He has performed with many leading
orchestras and given recitals at Alice Thully Hall and the Frick Collection in New York, at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and a sensational San Francisco
debut as part of a tour of the west coast of the United States. Steven is also a committed chamber musician, and he continues his partnership with German cellist Alban Gerhardt for recitals at Wigmore Hall, Manchester's Bridgewater Hall, London's South Bank Centre and in Jersey.
