The opening reprise gives me goosebumps. Actually the whole thing does really, the lyrics are haunting, those last two lines...

@DSlayer There are some strong implications of alien abduction on the blog/in the deluxe materials, but it does remain vague. It would be a pretty appropriate metaphor, given the story arc.

The most (and perhaps first) genuinely emotional thing Wilsons' penned since Stop Swimming.

What about the 'visitors'? It seems like there's some kind of paranormal/sci-fi element here. http://handcannoterase.com/

@WanderingAlmas: Well that sucks, then. Personally, I choose to let her die, it just makes much more sense, considering the structure of the whole album and the way Vincent died. And why else would the last song be named "Ascendant Here On..."?

So am I the only one who cried while listening to this song for the first time?

@Indyjones45 SW actually said in an interview that his character doesn't die.

This song is even more heartbreaing when you realize the real Joyce Carol Vincent (whom the album is loosely based on) died in her apartment surrounded by Christmas gifts she was intending on sending. The last lyrics on the song mentions she has gifts to send but will finish it up tomorrow because she feels "drowsy". Therefore implying she dies at the end of the album

@Hello1994 I guess this one's about her deciding to get back and her death finally. According to wikipedia, they found Vincent "lying on her back, next to a shopping bag, surrounded by Christmas presents she had wrapped but never delivered" and I think the "..I got gift for them.." refers to these christmas gifts and "But I'm feeling kind of drowsy now" is just describing her death.
