Heard about him writing soundtracks (in Rick Beato interview) and decided to try "Rumble Fish" (1983). Well, I'd say it's like literally a blend of "The Police" sound and techniques mixed with Copeland's own ideas and sensibilities. Inside the same track sometimes!) Like "Personal Midget/Cain's Ballroom" or "Our Mother Is Alive" e.g., where there definitelly are "The Police" elements, but where it's also obviously not all there is to it. And some tracks are ecquisitely destinct and don't evoke The Police stuff at all (or nearly don't:), like "Biff Gets Stomped By Rusty James", "Brothers On Wheels", "West Tulsa Story", "Tulsa Rags" or "Hostile Bridge To Benny's". Overall, it was very interesting to see this less known side of Copeland.

If anyone's interested, I have a playlist in progress ('Spyro Soundalikes'), basically focusing on instrumental songs that sound somewhat like Copeland's compositions for the Spyro soundtracks. Would be interested to hear what others think of my choices. Would appreciate some contributions as well.

if all video game soundtracks were like Spyro's, I'd actually give a shit about soundtracks in games [3]

The sound track of Spyro is embedded into my brain and every time I listen to it it stimulates that certain part of the brain, yo. [2]
