Any 808’s & Heartbreak fans can thank this album for so much of its influence! Such a great album, the both of them.

It will always ALWAYS be one of my fav albums ever, underrated as hell, people should be talking about it even to these days, and don't forget Roland and Curt were 21 y/o here, the sound, the lyrics, the vocals, everything about it is amazing

The more I listen to this album, the more it becomes one of my favorites of all time. This is really sad, tho.

Oddly enough - because I'm usually more into 50s-60s stuff - one of my favorite albums. It's really an unity too, which is pretty impressive.

Has anyone else heard Phantogram's song "You are the Ocean"? It sounds INCREDIBLY like TFF's The Hurting. I want to mash them.

My fourth favourite album of the 80s - behind Simple Minds' New Gold Dream, ABC's Lexicon of Love, and OMD's Architecture & Morailty. It still sounds fresh, intelligent and heart-wrenching.

I hate to say it but this is becoming my favorite TFF album. Elemental has always been it, but man this still holds up after so many years.

Bloody brilliant album, very influential. Look at how many bands are referencing TFF now.

I just couldn't agree more. Perfect early 80s pop miserabilism. Shame they cheered up and the U.S. fell in love with 'em.

i like to imagine if i were actually alive in a conscious sense in the 1980's i would definitely listen to this album, as well as a load of post punk, whilst sneering at the burgeoning new romantic scene..to be quickly shocked as this band themselves became quite involved in new romanticism..i would then distance myself from them though still secretly fucking love this and the other 2 classic albums.

The album Depeche Mode only WISH they could make. Zero filler - pure brilliance from start to finish.
