ikr? There are so much options to find/download music. If folks (not for mention "pleb") don't look futher for those options, they just simply stuck.

Buy his music if you are able! I realize his LPs are extremely out of print, but support him in ways that you can. I am happy his music is finally on streaming but it's poor he felt that he had to do it just to stop others from profiting off his work.

his work means so much to me I cannot really describe it. I feel horrible that he has to put his work up on streaming sites but I cannot help but be happy about it too as it makes it a lot more accessible. I feel guilty about that though as really he should be able to do what he wants as the artist.

The Caretaker was the name given to the Nacene entity who assumed responsibility for protecting the Ocampa. He was sometimes called the "Banjo Man", since he communicated with crewmembers from the USS Voyager through the illusory form of an elderly Human male playing a banjo.

it's a shame Kirby had to throw in the towel on his stance against streaming. but it makes scrobbling easier, at the very least. It seems impossible the levels of ineptitude that Spotify reaches when it comes to allowing thieves to illegally upload and make money off of the works of individual musicians with relatively little recourse

to anyone who defends Kirby’s blatant theft of others’ music and profiting from it, without altering it in any meaningful, creative way or crediting the original artists — imagine if you were a music-maker, and i took your music and did the exact same thing that The Caretaker did with the music he stole, just straight up cut out long sections of your work without adding anything to it at all, then started uploading, spreading it and making money off it under my own name without ever mentioning you as the source? would you be so eager to defend such action as “original sampling”, or would you be rightfully pissed? but of course Leyland Kirby gets a pass because his music is stolen from dead people who can’t stand up for themselves right?

apparently stealing music of deceased people who can’t stand up for the fact that he didn’t even bother to credit their work, adding some fake vinyl crackle effect and cheap digital reverb, and making up pretentious album and song titles and is enough to be considered a “great artist” nowadays. “but muh CONCEPT!!!” oh yeah, because nobody explored themes of nostalgia and distorted memories before? this shit is exactly like one of those talentless vaporwave albums who slow down music from an old japanese commercial and think that it constitutes for an original work of art.

dumbass caretaker fans trying to not stalk profile history and conjure up a lazy ad hominem in place of an actual argument challenge (impossible)

btw, your library has at least a dozen top artists any of which i could have inserted in place for Death Grips to mirror the same sentiment back onto you, but... you listen to motW, so kudos for that, at least. been revisiting them a lot lately. motW and Kayo Dot have legitimately flipped my perception of music on its head when i was 12 years old, and i still love both

If you think this shoutbox is bad, go to artists like Sewerslvt and Aphex Twin. Those shoutboxes are atrocious.

I am not young, but i am not old either. But let me say this. If you think Zoomers ruined anything. Have you ever considered that you ruined something by listening to it at a young age when it was either new, or grew in popularity? Zoomers only care about EATEOT, they don't bother with his other, early music. Shit dude, i must have ruined many artist when i was young then, and they work is old, or older than me, or perhaps their music just started when i was in my teens or later. Either way, who gives a crap. Don't use social media accounts like normal people, and you won't have that problem.

Whats the matter, really? If it wasnt a meme it would be a niche thing only a relatively small amount of people knows about. Now a lot of people know about it but its still the relatively small amount of people that are taking it seriously and really understand the whole depth of Leyland's creations. Nothing has changed, really. It's still niche, but with people using it for jokes n other stuff. Thats the only difference that popularity of eateot has made. How silly kids posting unfunny memes makes The Caretaker less good? Gatekeeping is illogical.

I feel that zoomers appropriate the culture of the past and have no identity of their own. It’s funny. The stereotypical Deftones fan used to be an older out of shape dude with a goatee. Now their typical fan is a young TikTok e-girl. Say what you want about millennials but at least they had their own ideas. Zoomers can cope and seethe all they want.

The average zoomer don't listen to Deftones, they listen mainstream pop and rap from the 2010's and 2020's
