This is my favorite Clash song aside from "Straight to Hell." Critics who say the band "learned to play their instruments" on London Calling are idiots, obviously, as this and many other songs on the debut and Give 'Em Enough Rope prove every member of the group could play his instrument and play it well.

One of their best, if not one of the world's best. [2] I'm just going to say that it is the best song out there. It has the power to move mountains and people.

Also used this in my essay on punk and the British economy. Such a memorable research paper...such a memorable track..."If Adolf Hitler flew in today, they'd send 'im a limousine anyway."

@above_tree_line The idea that people do things just to get commercialized and make a profit, despite being hypocritical about it has been going around for as long as society has existed. You can't stop it, really.

"ha, you think its funny turning rebellion into money" What I think is funny is that a lot of classic punk bands mention how they were annoyed with not just punk rock but rebellion getting commercialized. And modernly, this idea has progressed tremendously, that it should seem a travesty to call modern bands punk according to 1970 standards and there really inst much rebellion involved. And im not that much of a big fighter for this kind of stuff, but song lyrics like this puts it in perspective.
