Biography

Prague, Czech Republic (2006 - present)

The Drain is an indie garage rock band formed in the Czech Republic in 2006 by the songwriter and singer Daniel Subrt who rounded up members of three Czech bands with different musical and religious opinions, trying to combine the styles they used to play in their previous bands (hard rock, rock'n'roll, blues, heavy metal and grunge). After a smooth assimilation they came to a kind of common speech and their music could take off.

In January 2007 was released their first promo EP "Che Guevara, Robin Hood" containing four songs and they soon started to perform in several Czech clubs (mostly in South Bohemia and Prague). Thanks to the positive acceptation of the fans Drain got a chance to support a few more or less popular bands, which brought them fine success by the Czech audience.

At the beginning of their first regular Czech club tour called "Higher than my EGO tour" they made a little change in the personal way and accepted Michael L. Horejsi (The Fox) on the bass guitar instead of Vladimir Malinsky. Soon began Michael an irreplaceable member of the band, bringing new breeze to the backwater of The Drain's thought content. Their first tour unexpectedly met with a great success and Drain ended on the 2nd place in a chart on a music server i-legalne.cz (something like Czech I-Tunes).

In September 2008 Drain arranged a short club tour around the Czech Republic with The Foxes (UK) and the new EP called "Saliva Waterfall" was recorded by Ludek Spilauer during the summer 2008 and released in January 2009. After the release they made for a short tour around the republic to support the album, during which they managed to learn the essence of love. They spent the rest of year touring, experimenting with new sounds, philosophical views and working on their debut album.

After releasing first EP and touring around the Czech Republic they released their first record „GET BACK TO THE SWAMPS, DEATH” in 2010, which was released by Drug Me Records and is distributed by Pale Music Int. One year later came the band with their second release “BOY BOY GIRL GIRL BOY” , which is an EP of 5 songs released in 2011 by The Drain themselves and Full Moon Magazine.

In June 2013 The Drain released new single with a music video called “Give It A Go” which was a harbinger of the forthcoming record.
The latest release “We, Love, We” came out in September 2013. The album was recorded in Golden Digital Studio Prague in cooperation with Amak Golden, Ron Synowitz and Jiří Tomášek and contains nine tracks of garage glam rock’n’roll, taking you to the land of neverending parties, grose stories and self-love.
