Not mentioned in their biography, but didn't they start off as a Necrophagist cover band? Or am I confusing them with Alterbeast or some other band?

Why did an interlude suddenly become their top song? And it's stayed there for months, both on here and on spotify.

This band really went to shit when Keene decided to double down on his shitty vocals.

It is almost incomprehensible how bad his vocals are. The second the man opens his mouth, the song goes from decent to Nickelback-tier cringe. I think that the only flaws with Planetary Duality are Keene's vocals, and with the next album he just doubled down on it. So disappointing.

Actually cried tears this morning when I hit me there will NEVER been another tech death album written as good as Planetary Duality is. Not even by The Faceless themselves.

Yeah lol, they really did. Michael Keene wanted to start singing more, and his god awful voice was the worst part of Planetary Duality, so naturally an album with more Michael Keene vocals is just going to be horrendous.

Amazing how Michael Keene managed to find live musicians to perform at the Brookyln Bazaar tonight, whoa how bizarre! There's 3 other shows.

Нравится, как они умело дозируют в музыке тех-дэт, прог и даже мазафакерский дэткор. И свой стиль подачи материала есть. Не прям уникумы, но интересные ребятульки.

I really enjoyed Autotheism, but the newest was unfortunately super forgettable. Oh well.

Fantastic new album! Very catchy in all its aspects! Clean vocals are absolutely great!!! Fuck the old-fashioned death metal genre, which sounds all the same no matter which bands plays it.

I never really liked Autotheism, and while it isn't as good as Akeldama and Planetary Duality, I think its more consistent and enjoyable to listen all the way through than In Becoming a Ghost... the new album's highs are *very* high, songs like The Spiraling Void, Digging the Grave, and Black Star are all tip-tier but... some of the lows are very fucking low imo. Conversely, I'm really liking the proggy, bombastic sound of Autotheism, which I shelved after a few listens when it was new as pretty meh.

Somehow I completely missed the release of the new record up until now, but visiting the page I'm kinda shocked at the negativity towards it. While in sound it's still very different than the first 2 records, the band is also very different since then as well. I think it's better than Autotheism for sure, and the clean vocals almost remind me of Maynard Keenan's sometimes, in a good way. Plenty of bands have had much more dissapointing "comeback" records of sort... Deftone's Gore and Fleshgod Apocalypse's Labyrinth, or the complete change in sound from The Contortionist comes to mind

The band went from god-tier to shit-tier when Michael Keene decided he wanted to sing more after Planetary Duality.

In Becoming a Ghost is a totally kick-us record which extremely well spreads the boundaries of extreme music genres!
