I adore The Jam, but the "come on now, come on now" bit in the intro is straight off the Ramones song of the same name. Same vocal melody, same phrasing, same lyric.

...this was the last single before they split, (I bought this when it came out on a double 7" single), hence this was the style that Paul was moving into, begun on the album 'The Gift' IMO....

Not quite as aggressive as their other stuff, but a number one- I think that is the real difference?

have all the jam albums - love nearly every track ... BUT ... this is probably their worst track - too much like Style council!

The Jam 1982 Bingley Hall Birmingham where tracks from The Gift (to the fans) were played - don't think this one was on the set list - still, a great track!

Anyone remember Tracie's solo hit, "Give it some emotion". I remember the Smash Hits interview and pictures at the time recorded her putting her washing out on the clothes line and doing some ironing. Eat your heart out Britney.

This was very much a transition from The Jam to Style Council. I remember feeling that it sounded very different from most of what had come before. Still bounces along nicely though
