"The Rookie" EP is the second official release by Southern California's The New Division. Being the follow-up to the successful single release of "Starfield," the band's second EP offers stunning modern electronic sounds with a nostalgic twist. With influences ranging from New Order, Depeche Mode, to Cut Copy, this EP delivers what the band calls "their best work to date."
"A lot of 'The Rookie' is influenced by the 80s, British bands from Manchester, and trance music," says singer John Kunkel. "We really tried hard to produce a record that sounded modern, but also had that nostalgic vibe. If you compare "The Rookie" to our last record, you'll notice that there's a huge difference in production. We took a long time sitting down on this one and figuring out how to make something that sounded decent. We really had to push ourselves and learn different production techniques to make "The Rookie" what is today."
Already receiving online buzz from blogs and websites such as Pitchfork, The New Division and their rising sound have ahead of them their brightest year yet. Buy "The Rookie" today via iTunes for only $3.99 at http://bit.ly/hZ6m3u.
