continuing my smashing pumpkins journey with adore. the hybrid mix of acoustic guitars, synths, and drum machines really make for a delightful sound. this album filled with depressing and melancholic that took me to emotional heights, billy corgan's songwriting shined full on this record imo. overall, adore is a good album, im not sure where to rank it on my smashing pumpkins album ranking yet tho, so im gonna need to do a few relistens for a clear judgement. (final rating - 8/10)

Lovely album, however I always tack on “Let Me Give the World to You” at the end, as it gives me the catharsis that Blank Page doesn’t. Really wish Billy had kept that song on this, as it had the potential to become one of the Pumpkins iconic songs

Another album that I've come to appreciate a lot more than I used to. Despite it sounding very different than the other Pumpkins albums that I enjoy, I am still very glad that this exists.

This album is so underrated and every bit as good as its predecessors. “Crestfallen” is one of the saddest most beautiful songs ever written.

I always liked Adore. I guess people were put off by how different it is from what came before. The cover art of the vinyl version is god damn gorgeous.

It's fitting that this album came out the same year as R.E.M.'s Up. Both albums were complete breaks with the past from established rock bands. After this, the sound of both bands would gradually start reverting back to how they sounded before, but I think it's great when bands experiment with different sounds. If nobody ever experimented with their sound, rock music would never change.

I don't understand how people say this record is "bland" and not as interesting. It's different and it maybe not come together fully in satisfying way but it's still a fascinating turn for the band.

“isn’t just a transitional record; it’s a complete break with the past.” I Agreed, Greg Kot of Rolling Stone magazine. :|

The reissue of this is revelatory. I think my favourite part is the live DVD. If these songs had sounded more like their live arrangements the album probably would have done better commercially, though I like the versions we got as well.

Mellon Collie is a very, very close third. A two-hour album can be exhausting to listen to, and I do find it slightly less consistent. However, it does contain several of their best songs. I think if you swapped out a couple of the less engaging tracks for “Set the Ray to Jerry” and possibly “Tonite Reprise”, you might have a perfect album.

Превосходно, самое лучшее заигрывание с электроникой из плеяды альт рока, наверное самая любимая их работа после "эпической Меланхолии"

a more radio-friendly brand of Pumpkins, but my favourite of theirs all the same.

One of their best albums, no doubt. To me it was always mystifying how much people hated it, as there was nothing in 1998 that sounded like this. This was the pinnacle of the band, I think; Machina I and II are pretty great, but Adore has an economy of sound in its own sphere reminiscent of Siamese Dream.

Mellon Collie is their best imo, but this will always be my favorite from them.
