Tracie Young was born 1965 in Derby, United Kingdom. She was discovered by Paul Weller of The Jam through a newspaper ad for new Respond record label and began her singing career at age 17. She had UK hit singles in 1983 with The House That Jack Built and Give it Some Emotion (both credited simply to Tracie), as well as singing back-up on The Style Council album, Introducing The Style Council. She sang on The Jam's final single Beat Surrender as well as The Style Council's Speak Like A Child and Boy Who Cried Wolf.
