There are at least two artists with the name Transience.
1. An Australian heavy progressive rock band from Melborne (2012 to present)
2. Fred Hunter's side project (keyboard player of Lands End)
1. Based in Melbourne, 6-piece Transience combines soaring melodies, warped time signatures, crushing grooves and expansive atmospheres to create their own take on progressive rock and metal.
Transience first emerged in 2012, demanding attention with their powerful, energetic and genre-bending live show. 2013 saw them release their self-titled EP, hailed as “a perfect fit within the Aussie atmosphere of bands such as Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, Sleep Parade and Breaking Orbit” by international blog, The Undertow, who awarded it number 6 in it’s top 15 EP’s of 2013. Success from the EP spread into a national tour, playing the Showdown, Creepshow and St Kilda Festivals, as well as shows alongside heavy hitters of the Australian scene. They've also been busy releasing numerous music videos and television show theme covers, including Dexter and True Blood.
As for 2014, Transience have been slaving away in the studio recording their debut album, Temple, which includes collaborations with some of Melbourne's most talented musicians. Produced and mixed by Phil Threlfall at The Base Studios and mastered by Acle Kahney (TesseracT) at 4D Sounds, the album ebbs and flows in a way that is sure to please any prog fan.
2. Transience was LANDS END keyboard player Fred HUNTER’s side project. He recorded “Sliding” and "Pimordial" during a 4-year time period and was accompanied by the Brazilian guitarist Francisco “KIKO” NETO, singer Jeff McFARLAND, saxophonist Steve ADES and drummer Mark LAVALLEE. They play a very delicate music full of nuances, a kind of neo-progressive away from the limitations of this genre.
On album, "Primordial", the LANDS END influence is even more pronounced as many of the tracks were recorded at the studio sessions for their new album, which is due later this year. Long expansive tracks with lots of instrumental work give the guys time to work their own special brand of Symphonic progressive.
