“Sidelines” is the second single from Wallows' debut album, Nothing Happens. The track is accompanied by a self-directed lyric video.
The band previewed the song on March 5th, after an Instagram post told fans to call (747) 223-6014. When the number is dialed correctly a 15-second tease of “Sidelines” is played.
"This track was written from the perspective of breaking up with someone and watching them fall for someone else. Musically, I remember coming up with the guitar riff while drawing inspiration from Tyler, The Creator’s "Flower Boy" album and pulling ideas from another unused song idea of ours to finish it off."
