This is one of the best album of Black Metal. It has rawness and its really angry.

The album is really enjoyable in my book and I honestly don't see what all hate is about, but to each their own.

This album has grown on me a lot, I appreciate what they were going for here, even if it isn't always successful. I certainly don't think it was driven by greed or ambition, I think it's an authentic attempt to branch out and diversify whole remaining true to the spirit of Watain.

There's something about the production on this album that sucks some of the life out of the heavier tracks like Sleepless Evil, which is a shame. [2] Exactly, I really don't like mixing/production here, even though, the album, mostly, isn't that bad in itself.

I like the production very much. It's got a nice vintage/early 80's heavy metal sound which I think suits the overall feel of the album very well. However, I do agree that some tracks, like "Sleepless Evil", do indeed suffer from this production while other songs benefit a lot from it ("The Child Must Die", "They Rode On", for instance).

A masterpiece. I spent a long time shunning this album without fully listening to it, simply because of the buzz around Watain these days. Upon really letting it sink in, away from all the nonsense, it's very obvious to me that this is truly a triumph.

Can't get it. It doesn't matter how often I listen to it. The more I listen to it the worse it gets.

"Sleepless Evil" is the only one I'm not very fond of, don't like the mix between the drumming and how they sound, it's kinda clumpsy. Otherwise I'd say this is an(other) excellent release by Watain. Looking forward to their next album.

This album isn't really much of a departure from the sound they had on Lawless Darkness, so people who are flipping shit over it like it was something painfully novel have probably been suffering from deafness and downs-syndrome for the last three years. It's obvious they'll never reach the heights they attained on Casus Luciferi ever again, but I'm glad at least they're evolving naturally without compromising much on their original ideals.

And you focus too much to the superficial, the literal. Open your eyes, read, understand, before you post an idiotic opinion. None of the band members left? To me,none of them stayed. Name is the same? May as well call it whatever else. Watain are what their music is,and this album has nothing of Watain in it.

Not really feeling it. I should give it more listens though. They Rode On felt cheesy.
