Energetic Disassembly is the debut album by progressive metal / technical thrash metal outfit Watchtower. The album was recorded at Cedar Creek Studio and Earth and Sky Studio in 1985. It was released on November 30, 1985. An earlier version of the record was recorded at B.O.S.S. (Bob O'Neill Sound Studios) for Rainforest Records (which was the label S.A. Slayer was a part of at the time), but the recordings got scrapped when Rainforest Records closed. The original recordings were believed to be 'lost', but they were found and released on Demonstrations In Chaos in 2002. The 2002 reissue of this Energetic Disassembly contains a re-recording of Meltdown, which was recorded for a compilation called Cottage Cheese From the Lips of Death in 1983
This album was originally released on Watchtower's own label, Zombo (it was the name of Watchtower's then-manager's mute dog) Records. It was financed by their drummer Rick Colaluca. 3,000 LPs and 1,500 cassette tapes were pressed in 1985. Germany's Institute of Art label issued Energetic Disassembly on CD for the first time in 1993. The 1993 reissue has a modified tracklisting.
