Holy fuck, the new album is gorgeous. The choral vocals are breathtaking. Possibly the best WBSS album to date.

Cool. I definitely agree with what you've written about modern "professional" recordings usually being utterly stripped of dynamics. A lot of professionally mastered albums actually sound worse than they would without the mastering. There are very few mastering engineers doing a decent job these days; Colin Marston is one of the few I can name offhand. The last two WBSS albums sound great to me from a sonic standpoint; there's plenty of room for the music to breathe and you can clearly hear all the instruments. I haven't listened to any of the samples for the new album yet but I'm sure it'll go along the same lines.

Somehow I completely missed hearing about Spirit in Flames when it first came out. Great record. It's rare that a band effectively shifts from using harsh vocals to using exclusively clean vocals, but When Bitter Spring Sleeps has made it work. I sort of feel like they sound more like themselves on these past two releases than they ever had before.

Coven of the Wolves is fantastic. Easily the best material this band has released thus far.

the demo sounds like someone taped black metal off the radio, took that tape to the forest and played it, then walked 5 meters away and recorded the result with their phone. I like the concept of what they are trying to do, but the execution is horrible

Harold, new stuff is still in the works, one song at a time while we work on other projects as well. Amazing new material in the pipeline already. A full length isn't specifically planned, but its kind of the obvious goal I suppose. In time.

The split with Panopticon is mindblowingly beautiful. Any chance there's a full length coming soon?

I didn't get into this on the first listen, but now I really love it. Can't wait to hear the split with Panopticon.
