Biography

Born 2003 in Freiburg, close to the black forest in Germany, composer and pianist Yan Springett has been working primarily on solo piano music but has been involved in several classical productions as a music producer. He is known for his melodic yet melancholic piano instrumentals, which have often been recorded on a prepared piano with felt, as he states on Spotify. In January 2022, Yan Springett released an EP with the title "Outlooks" under his civil name. Whereas the songs were composed in Berlin, where he worked for Sony Music Entertainment in 2021, the EP was recorded in his hometown Freiburg on a Bechstein upright piano. The recording was distributed by The Orchard, a company owned by Sony Music. Shortly after, on March 18th 2022, the EP got followed by the single "Hope".
Growing up with a classical piano education by pianist Kerstin Kazemi, Yan Springett's style was strongly influenced by renowned composers like Claude Debussy, Frédéric Chopin, and Erik Satie. However, his later works show similarities to the melodic style of modern neo-classical composers like Ludovico Einaudi, Ólafur Arnalds, and Nils Frahm.
Besides releasing music under his official artist name, Yan Springett produced the album "Art Gallery" for Imaginary Poet and two classical recordings for Minoire in 2021.
