"Fragile" is the fourth studio album by the progressive rock band Yes, released on November 12th, 1971 by Atlantic Records. It was the band's debut album with new found keybord player Rick Wakeman who replaced Tony Kaye. With success from their previous record "The Yes album" and a wildy succcessful tour they entered the studio in August 1971 to begin work on "Fragile" but Kayes reluctance to play electronic instruments resulted in him exiting the group. In hope to move forward with a reinvented sound they recuited Wakeman whose virtuosity and compositional skills perfectly fit the bill. Due to studio time and budget contraints only 4 tracks on this album are group compostions with the rest being composed by solo members. The album was lagrely loved by critics but the solo compsosed tracks garnered mild criticsim. The album still to this day will remain a landmark and icon in the progressive rock world.
