Biography
Andrawis George is a multi-talented young man. After his well-loved band, Kid Confucius, finished up in 2010, he’s been busy working on his new project, Young Cairo. Project is definitely the word, with Young Cairo not just a musical outlet, but a brand – part music, part design (his design talents have already assisted other Australian acts including Bluejuice and Andy Bull).
Musically, it’s a change-up from the hip-hop/soul-infused Kid Confucius days. His first single “Ghosts” is super sweet, super catchy indie pop, impossible not to love. It’s backed up with a humorous video-clip.
Clearly a perfectionist, a lot has gone into this venture, with writing and recording taking place across five countries and eight studios. This is just the first taste, with an album due out next year.
The Young Cairo brand officially launched on September 6, with George taking over an empty retail space in Sydney, showcasing his musical and visual production at a Pop-Up shop.
