It sounds nothing like the 90s though. It has that overproduced and artifical 2020s sound.

I listened to it again for the sake of discussion as I only ever really listened to it in the car one time. I feel as if those sounds have always been around, really. Hell, grunge was born partially from a distaste towards the sound of overproduced 80s radio rock. I think a lot of it just falls by the wayside with time. On a repeated listen in the same environment, I'd probably place it around early 2000s this time, because I feel like there was a big resurgence of the sound you're referring to. I usually think of late late 90s rock and early 2000s rock as interchangeable.

I don't like the guitar tone at all on this, it just sounds like another victim of the loudness war. Look up "Lost In Hindsight" on spotify or youtube, he did a cover of it in the style of TOYPAJ and you can hear how much better the guitar sounds when it's not just a distorted mess.

100% agree, sounds terrible. The drums sound awful as well, like a loudness war drum machine sample. All thud, dead, and no human dynamic. I like the song, but the production is total shit.

I haven't really gone back to listen to it since around the time I wrote this and after remembering many of the "questionable" at best mixing decisions I doubt I'll be listening to it again any time soon unless they re-record or remaster it for an upcoming album. With that being said I doubt the average blink fan cares how it sounds lol.

What does me not liking the recording quality of a particular song have to do with that lol? I've liked every other song they've put out.

Ehhh I don't really like it. Tom's voice sounds very early-AvA-esque... getting huge NINE vibes from this, and I *really* didn't enjoy that album.

Blink fans try not to lose their shit over safe radio-friendly lead single challenge. This happened for Feeling This and Up All Night, and we know it sure as hell did for California and Nine. You'd think people would get it by now.

Not earth-shattering but certainly an earworm. Nine and Lifeforms were both solid albums and you can hear both here. I'm for it. Can't get Tom singing "get the rope, get the rope" out of my head. Hell yeah.
