"sad disco" is the second single from mxmtoon’s sophomore studio album, "rising".
The song was formally announced on March 17, 2022, but it had been hinted at for weeks beforehand. An acoustic snippet was posted by Maia to TikTok on March 16, 2022 with a portion of the final song being released a few days later.
