I understand why Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? is Barnes' most highly regarded album, but I cannot see why anyone--much less the aggregate--would think that Satanic Panic in the Attic should be ranked above this album. This is a masterpiece, better than anything Barnes has done except for Hissing Fauna, and that's just because he was inspired by his relationship with Nina. The Sunlandic Twins is as good as indie/psychedelic pop gets. The songs all play upon one another, blending and bleeding together in illimitable pop goodness. All Barnes' creative genius is on display here.

"This is one of those albums that never leaves your head." I have to agree. I remember listening to this album almost 5 years ago and being slightly obsessed with it for some time, and then I moved on to other stuff, but the atmosphere of TST has been following me around. Fucking weird dance music and very perceptive and intelligent lyrics, I must say.

The first 9 songs are incredible. After that, not so much. Still a wonderful album.

the second half doesn't flow nearly as well as the first but it's nothing to be dismissed! I was a landscape in your dream, oslo in the summertime and the repudiated immortals are great, moody songs that stand with the best on the album. This is one of those albums that never leaves your head.
