Biography
Tim frequently records and performs as a duo with keyboard player/multi-instrumentalist Peter Chilvers. Their songs combine lean, intense compositions and Tim’s poignant lyrics with dark electronic textures and found sounds, and draw on instrumentation ranging from solo piano and voice to brass and strings. The results have been compared to The Blue Nile, Arab Strap, Björk, Robert Wyatt, and David Bowie.
The debut album, 'California, Norfolk', Tim Bowness / Peter Chilvers - 'California, Norfolk' combines dark, electronic textures and found sounds with lean, intense compositions and poignant lyrics. Songs range from the brooding, cinematic and orchestral sweep of 'Hostage', to the epic ambition of 'Winter With You' to the bleak, icy overtones of 'Days Turn Into Years', forming a suite of musical short stories awash with domestic drudgery, fleeting hopes, misguided trust and thwarted dreams.
