Brazilian rock music had perhaps its most prominent artists around the early eighties, with bands such as Titãs, Os Paralamas do Sucesso and Legião Urbana. The songs at that time were generally characterized by a somewhat light-hearted social and political concern, while often retaining humoristic elements, and a strong connection to national identity.
