Dark trap is a subgenre of trap music characterized by its dark melodies, heavy bass, and unique snares. It was created by SpaceGhostPurrp in 2013 and pioneered by producers from his collective BMB Deathrow, such as Loko Los, becoming their signature sound. Dark trap instrumentals often use presets from FL Studio synthesizers like Ogun and Sytrus. Other notable dark trap producers include Krxxk, bloodline genesis, Evil Haze, and Sayda. One of the most popular dark trap songs is Purrp's 2015 single "Terror Gang".
