Gorenoise is a microgenre of goregrind that is a combination of goregrind and either harsh noise or general noise music. Gorenoise can also deviate in style by mixing influences from noisecore, cybergrind, industrial, brutal death metal, punk and black metal. It is characterized by ludicrously fast midi-programmed blast beats and highly pitch-shifted vocals, being either slurping, gurgling, vomiting or frog noises extremely distorted guitar or bass (if any is used) and being less than 10 seconds long. Though that isn't always the norm, some gorenoise projects have actual drummers or other kinds of percussion, or may not even use pitched-shifted vocals. They use instead the sounds of boiling water, urine hitting the toilet bowl, toilet flushes, flatulence, gurgling clogged drains… anything that makes a disgusting sound. Songs time durations may also vary from a few second to as long as over 10 minutes. The things all these projects have in common are raw lo-fi bedroom recordings either on tape, cell phones or on a computer, and loud noisy drums and pitched-shifted vocals, or sounds that imitate pitched-shifted vocals.

The lyrical and visual topics are mostly about gore, pathology, violence, misanthropy, drugs and death. But most gorenoise artists don't even use lyrics and just growl, scream and grunt. Not all gorenoise bands chose to focus on those themes though, there are projects that pick sex and porn, hentai and anime, water parks, fungi, bacteria and viruses, insects, amphibians and reptiles, christianity as their topic of choice. Those bands with different subject matters may also dub their genre style as pornoise, pissnoise, shitnoise, frognoise… etc.

Last Days of Humanity are often credited as being the most influential to the genre, although Anal Birth being the first true practitioner.
