Neo-classicism was not an organized movement in music, but more of a trend that occurred mainly between the two world wars. In the beginning of the 20th century, many new styles of music were emerging (jazz, expressionism, ragtime, impressionism, etc.) and neo-classical composers just wanted to bring back the classical order and structure back to their pieces, while still keeping some of these new modern-styled musical flavorings. These composers would often write pieces that would fall into categories other than "neo-classical" as well.
